Love Story

A couple irregularly
matched, he far older,
she carrying a miracle,
get caught too far
from home. Over a
stable warmed only
by cattle’s breath a star
hovers, too close, too bright,
filling with terror the hearts
of plain men. Angel song
drowns out her cries.
They subside to a lulling
as hope comes into the
heaving human world.
