Summit Hill Park (Victoria, BC)

Feet planted on sun-warmed rocks
Sunset blazing around me in 360-degree splendor
I am in the sky
The city stretches minuscule below
Mountains rest hazy on the horizon
I don’t move
Until the colors have faded to shadow.

I could step out my door every day
Tell my feet to take me down Kings Road
Past the Craftsman bungalows
Up the dead-end street
Through the yellowed grass and gnarled trees
To where the sky waited.
Three thousand miles
And over three years later
Does it still wait for me?
